It took me 12 hours to fly to Sydney today. Would’ve been quicker to drive. I flew out of Melbourne at 6am and was diverted to the Gold Coast because of the dust storm over Sydney.
After sitting on the tarmac in QLD for an hour or so we headed back to Sydney. Half way there we were told we had to go into a holding pattern for an hour and 45 minutes. The pilot informed us we didn’t have enough fuel to do that so we were diverted again. To Melbourne! At 1pm we landed back in Melbourne.
I got on another flight and eventually landed in Sydney by about 6pm. Long day.
The photo shows the view we had for about an hour flying over NSW. The storm was massive and the white clouds really stood out from the red dust surrounding them.
